Pervert caged for three years

A paedophile has been caged for three years over a indecent images haul involving children and animals that’s been branded by Scottish police as the “worst ever”.

Nigel Childs, 60, was locked up after material, including videos of babies being tortured with pliers and a two-year old being whipped, were discovered.

Perth Sheriff Court heard Childs had previously been caught with indecent images of children in 2007 and had showed no signs of remorse for his actions.

Sheriff Gillian Wade told Childs: “It will come as no surprise to you that I do not consider there is any alternative to a custodial sentence.

“You went to some lengths to conceal your offending behaviour and that is of considerable concern given your previous conviction and the fact you have already been through a programme to prevent re-offending.

“The officer indicated it was the worst they had ever seen.”

The nature of the material was so distressing it wasn’t described fully in court.

Fiscal depute Charmaine Gilmartin said: “The examiners of the electronic equipment have expressed the opinion that the videos recovered depict some of the most obscene child abuse ever seen by them.”

The perv underwent sex offender courses since being convicted of a similar offence in 2007 after being caught with 24,000 indecent images.

When officers raided his home in Perth last April they found he had gathered more depraved material.

Mrs Gilmartin said: “They described him as being unphased and showing no signs of remorse. Police attended his home address. They recovered two USB sticks and a laptop.

“They discovered indecent images of children. One USB stick had 7,784 indecent images of children. They showed male and female children, aged from new born babies to 14.

“There were also images of adult women involved in sexual activity with dogs. The other USB had 193 indecent videos of children. The total run time was 14 hours 35 minutes.

“It also contained an adult male having penetrative sexual activity with a horse. There were also 3,560 indecent images on the laptop.”

He had been using special software to search anonymously for the extremely disturbing material and using cleaning software to hide his tracks.

Childs has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life after being described as a danger to the public.

He also faces an extended 18-month sentence after he is released after he admitted having thousands of images and videos of babies and toddlers being abused.

Perth man caught with the “most obscene” child sexual abuse material police investigators said they had ever seen

A man caught with the “most obscene” child sexual abuse material police investigators said they had ever seen has been remanded in custody.

Nigel Childs, 60, admitted possessing thousands of images and videos of babies and toddlers being tortured, sexually abused and raped

Perth Sheriff Court was told Childs was previously caught with child abuse material in 2007 and had showed no remorse.

He will be sentenced later this year.

Sheriff Gillian Wade prevented full details of the material being read out in court because of its distressing nature.

Depute fiscal Charmaine Gilmartin said: “The examiners of the electronic equipment have expressed the opinion that the videos recovered depict some of the most obscene child abuse ever seen by them.”

Mrs Gilmartin said Childs had undergone social work sex offender courses since being convicted for a similar offence involving 24,000 images in 2007.

She said that officers raided his Perth home last April and discovered another collection of child abuse material.

Officers also discovered videos of men and women having sex with animals.

Mrs Gilmartin told the court that Childs had been using specialist software to try and search anonymously for the material.

The fiscal said that police described Childs as being “unphased and showing no signs of remorse.”

Sheriff Wade deferred sentence on Childs for reports and told him: “In view of the fact this is your second offence and the very serious nature of it I will remand you in custody.”
