Sex offender trapped in online police sting

A sex offender has been jailed after he was caught online by an undercover police officer posing as a 13-year-old girl

Neil Wheatley, 32 committed a sex act while he thought a schoolgirl was watching him over the internet

But the girl was infact a police officer who had gone onto the 13 – 17 year old section of a chat room and created a fake profile.

After establishing that the child was 13 years old, he committed a sexual act on himself and showed off some sex toys

He also asked her if she had a friend and when she said she would introduce a 12 year old girl, he suggested she should watch too

Wheatley told the girl he wanted to meet up so she could see the sexual act in person

Wheatley of Chesnut close, Hampton, Evesham pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, and attempting to facilitate a sexual act in front of a child

Wheatley was handed an immediate prison sentence of 12 months.

He will also be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years, banning him from any unsupervised access to a child aged under 16 and monitoring and restriction of any internet use

He was told that he must register as a sex offender for a period of 10 years
