Sick East Kilbride beast photographed himself abusing two-year-old girl

An East Kilbride paedophile who photographed himself abusing a two-year-old girl was caught after police linked a ring he was wearing to the horrific images.

Joseph White, 30, repeatedly molested the youngster and used the messaging service Whats App to share warped fantasies about assaulting her with other perverts.

White was only stopped when police linked his computer to viewing indecent images of children.

A raid on a property in the town discovered highly disturbing images of his abuse and also revealed he had a covert camera operation in place where he recorded various women using a bathroom.

Officers noticed White was wearing the same ring which was visible in the photos and later discovered the clothes the girl had been wearing.

The police probe discovered another young girl had been victim of sexual advances from White when she was just 11.

White had gone on trial at Hamilton Sheriff Court where he faced a total of eight charges including sexual assaults on the two girls.

A jury has now taken less than an hour to convict him on seven charges between March 2010 and July last year.

The court heard police found an iPhone and Macbook had been used to search and download images of babies and children being abused.

White had stored hundreds of disgusting images while the pictures of him abusing the young girl were categorised at the second most extreme level.

A search discovered a memory card containing footage of a bathroom filmed from a camera hidden in the ceiling.

In evidence, first-time offender White admitted he had downloaded the indecent images and installed the hidden camera.

Depute fiscal Paula Russell asked White if the ring which was ‘clearly visible’ in the photos of the young girl belonged to him and he replied, ‘Yes, it’s mine’.

He said he first developed a twisted interest in children last year and began sending messages to other perverts as a way to try and stop downloading pictures.

White, a sound and lighting engineer, added: “I wouldn’t say this for excuses but I fell into an interest and I was responsible for that and I realise I will have to be punished for that.

“I tried to address it beforehand and felt better after I was arrested because I made contact with a couple of helplines to get support and have now had therapy.

“I was a normal guy and I struggled with it on my own and tried to deal with it on my own.

“The person on WhatsApp knew me and I stuck to writing stories rather than looking for images, I was trying to deal with a problem.

“I knew I was committing illegal acts.

“I understand the charges but I didn’t sexually assault the girls, it just didn’t happen.”

Sheriff Marie Smart deferred sentence on White until next month for reports and remanded him in custody.

She added: “You have been found guilty by the jury of seven serious charges.”

White was also placed on the sex offenders’ register.

The sheriff told jurors she had noted the impact that the ‘upsetting evidence’ had clearly had on them.

White was convicted of three charges of sexual assault, one charge of voyeurism and a charge of using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices.

He was also found guilty of two charges taking and possessing indecent images of children.

A charge alleging he had intentionally exposed himself to a girl aged 13 was dropped during the trial.
