Graham Norris was previously caught with more than 1,600 indecent images of children in 2003

A paedophile avoided jail after he was caught with images of girls as young as six exposing themselves.

Graham Norris, of Tavistock Road, Reading, previously came before Reading Crown Court in 2003 after he was found with more than 1,600 indecent images.

He was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court five years later for similar offences and served 12 months in prison.

Thames Valley Police acted on intelligence and arrested the 57-year-old after finding pictures of children between the age of six and 13 on a tablet at his home address in March 2016.

They found 30 Category C images and two prohibited images involving cartoon pictures of children involved in a sex act.

Jonathan Sank, prosecuting at Reading Crown Court on Friday, said: “Electronic devices were seized from his house.

“The images can be summarised as young girls who are posing for the camera, exposing themseleves.

“The two prohibited images are cartoon images which depict girls between six and eight engaged in [a sex act].”

Daren Samat, mitigating, explained he would often look at these images during periods of depression.

He also explained sending Norris to prison would likely cause significant distress to his parents, who were both old and depended on him for everyday care.

Deputy circuit judge Andrew Goymer said: “You do not need me to tell you how serious this kind of offending is. If you commit another offence you will be sent to prison.

“Somewhere in the world a child is being subjected to unwanted and criminal sexual activity for the gratification of people like you.

“Clearly these are at the lower end of the scale, but I do not wish to excuse that by not sending you to prison.

“I hope that by sending you on a course that we can break the cycle of your need to engage in this kind of activity.”

Norris was told to carry out a rehabilitation order and a community order for three years and was handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for seven years for possession of indecent and prohibited images of children.
