Pervert avoids prison after grooming children online
A pervert has avoided a prison sentence after he was caught and exposed by an online child protection team after he groomed what he believed was a schoolgirl
Shane Manning of Burton On Trent appeared at Staffordshire Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child
The court was told that Manning had admitted sending sexually explicit messages to what he thought was a 13-year-old schoolgirl but was actually a decoy from online child protection ‘Keeping Kids Safe’
Members of the team visited Manning at his home address where they interviewed him about his online activity. The police were called and Manning was arrested. The team handed their evidence to the police who in turn charged him
It later emerged that Manning had contacted multiple decoys who he believed were female children.
Manning was sentenced to a two year community order, and was told he must register as a sex offender for a period of five years
