Man jailed for 17 years for ‘monstrous’ sex offences against Sheffield children
A man convicted of ‘monstrous’ sex offences against three children in Sheffield has been locked up for 17 years.
Martyn Peter Shore, aged 45, of Pensford Drive, Eastbourne, subjected three children in Sheffield to years of abuse, the city’s crown court heard.
He denied the allegations but was found guilty after a trial of sex offences including indecent assault, sexual assault by penetration, causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and attempted rape.
The jury took less than three hours to find Shore guilty on all counts, after hearing how he abused two girls and a boy in Sheffield over a seven-year period between 1998 and 2005.
The victims, who were aged between eight and 15-years-old at the time of the abuse, began to come forward in 2013 to report Shore to the police and an investigation began.
Detective Constable Carly Booth investigating said: “This has been a lengthy and complicated investigation and I want to take this opportunity to commend all three victims for their courage in coming forward.
“Shore forced his victims through the further trauma of reliving their horrific abuse in court as he refused to accept responsibility for his heinous crimes.
“Throughout this process the victims have shown tremendous strength of character and for this, they should also be commended.
“Shore’s abuse of three vulnerable children over a prolonged period and the devastating impact this has had on their young lives is nothing short of monstrous.
“The significant sentence handed to Shore last week reflects the gravity of his crimes and I hope the victims take some small comfort in knowing that their abuser is behind bars.”
