Man who raped young girl four decades ago told he faces jail in the new year
A man who admitted raping a young girl four decades ago has been told he faces jail in the new year.
David Armstrong, 57, raped and molested the primary school pupil over a number of years in the 1970s.
He admitted one count of rape and six counts of indecent assault – three of which were oral sex and would today be classified as rape.
Armstrong, of Belmont Drive, Tuebrook, pleaded guilty on the basis he was under 18 at the time, which was accepted by prosecutors.
Offenders must be punished under the law at the time the crimes were committed and receive a sentence based on their age at that point.
Judge Robert Trevor-Jones remanded Armstrong on conditional bail until January 15 next year and ordered him to sign on the Sex Offenders Register.
