Vile teenage rapist groomed young boy with McDonalds and sweets
A man who raped a young boy and sexually assaulted another when he was a teenager has been jailed for five years.
Christian Wilson, 21, from Willerby, was bullied as a teenager so tended to spend time with children who were much younger than him.
When Wilson was 17, he befriended a young boy, who he then went on to rape. He also groomed another boy and sexually assaulted him.
Megan Rhys, prosecuting, told Hull Crown Court the offences dated back to when Wilson was 17 years old.
Wilson had denied all offences, forcing his victims through a trial, in which an emotional statement was read out by his victim to the court, ultimately leading to his conviction.
In it, the boy, who is now a young teenager, told the court how he feared it would happen to someone else. He also expressed worry the offence had caused his parent.
Recorder Richard Woolfall praised the victim for his maturity shown throughout the ordeal of the trial.
Ms Rhys said Wilson had groomed his second victim by buying him McDonald’s and sweets. He would hug him and kiss him on the forehead, the court was told.
On one occasion Wilson stroked the boy’s leg and did not stop when the boy tried to “slap his hand away.”
Wilson was found guilty of eight offences, including raping a child under the age of 13, and sexual assault on a child under the age of 13.
When Wilson was arrested in May last year, police also discovered 20 indecent images of children on his iPad.
Sentencing, Recorder Woolfall said he was concerned Wilson still appeared to be in denial about what he had done.
“It concerns me you are still in denial about the offences. These offences are so serious only an immediate custodial sentence is justified.”
Wilson was jailed for five years. He will serve half of the sentence before being released on licence.
