Paedophile hunters Dark Justice snared Grindr pervert in Newcastle city centre
A pervert who turned up hoping to meet a 15-year-old boy for sex has walked free from court.
Dawid Rozycki of Clifton Avenue, Billingham had groomed what he thought was a child on dating website Grindr and arranged to meet up in Newcastle city centre.
But he had in fact fallen into a trap set by paedophile hunters Dark Justice.
When the 24-year-old turned up to meet the child, he was confronted by the vigilantes and their video camera.
Now Rozycki, who admitted attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming, has been given a community order at Newcastle Crown Court.
Prosecutor Kevin Wardlaw told the court Rozycki was told early in the online conversations that he was speaking to a 15-year-old child.
Mr Wardlaw added: “Within a short time the conversation turned sexual. “
The court heard Rozycki asked the ‘boy’ for illicit photographs and pictures in his underwear and talked graphically about sexual activities.
Mr Wardlaw added: “It is quite clear the defendant did intend to have full, penetrative sex with what he believed to be a 15-year-old boy.”
Rozycki fled into his nearby home when he was confronted but was quickly arrested by the police.
Recorder Ben Nolan sentenced Rozycki to a community order for three years with a five year sexual harm prevention order and five years on the sex offenders register.
The judge said the order would be in the long term public interest and help Rozycki, formerly of Clifton Avenue, Billingham, Teesside, to “come to terms” with any problems he has in relation to underage boys.
Recorder Nolan told Rozycki: “You exchanged indecent suggestions and indecent intentions to someone you thought was 15-years-old.”
The court heard he has never been in trouble before and his barrister, Tony Cornberg, handed in a reference to his ordinarily good character.
