Pervert who took hundreds of pictures of girl and recorded her escapes jail

A sick pervert who captured hundreds of indecent pictures of a schoolgirl and secretly recorded her showering has escaped a jail sentence.

Ryan Johnston, of Sycamore Crescent in Ayr, was found in possession of hundreds of indecent images and even took photos of the girl while she was in the bath and on the toilet.

The 37-year-old managed to avoid a custodial sentence when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court on Friday, April 20.

The creep appeared in court last year following reports of his perverted behaviour.

The court heard at an earlier appearance Johnston placed a recording device on a bathroom floor to film his teenage victim when she was 15.

The young girl had jumped in the shower and left the door ajar so the cat could get out and noticed a mobile phone being held through the ajar door.

Police officers arrested Johnston and seized his computers, laptops and mobile phone.

They discovered hundreds of images and film on a raft of electronic devices with pictures of the girl aged only nine.

Steering clear of a putting Johnston behind bars, Sheriff Carole Cunninghame said that while a custodial sentence would ‘certainly punish’ him, it wouldn’t get to ‘the root of’ his problem.

The Sheriff said: “The court is mindful of the gross misconduct on these individuals who were entitled to feel safe in their own home and you shattered that.

“The court imposes a community payback order as a direct alternative to custody.”

Solicitor Ian Gillies said there was ‘little explanation’ as to why Johnston carried out the offences.

Mr Gillies said: “Mr Johnston has to accept they have had a dramatic effect on the complainer.

He added: “This is a very serious matter and Mr Johnston accepts that fully.”

It is understood the pervert hid cameras around a property.

Cybercrime investigators found film on a mobile phone of the teen naked in the shower and a pen drive containing a picture of her in a bath.

Another 200 images found on a HP tower showed her on the toilet.

Another laptop contained 30 photographs of the child getting out of the bath.

A total of 100 other copies of the images were found.

And 59 pictures of a woman sleeping with the blanket pulled down exposing her breasts were also discovered on a tablet.

Johnston admitted to being in possession of indecent images of children between December 3, 2009 and April 21, 2016.

He plead guilty to filming a child naked in the shower on March, 27, 2016 and trying to video record her showering again on April, 21 2016

He admitted another charge of pulling down bed covers and recording a woman sleeping with her breasts exposed without her consent between November 25, 2014 and April 21, 2016.

He was sentenced to a community payback order for three years in which he will be under supervision and must carry out 300 hours of unpaid work in the community within 12 months.

Johnston was also tagged for eight months where he must remain in his home address from 8pm to 8am.

A review order will take place in two months to allow the Sheriff to note Johnston is complying ‘wholly, positively and completely’ with the order.

Pervert recorded schoolgirl in shower along with keeping pictures of her on toilet

A pervert secretly recorded a little girl in the shower and captured hundreds of indecent pictures of her.

Ryan Johnston, of Ayr, also covertly captured images of her in the toilet and bath.

The voyeur was snared after he’d placed a recording device on a bathroom floor to film her when she was 15, Ayr Sheriff Court heard.

The creep also took pictures of another woman’s body as she slept.
Depute fiscal Hayley Robertson said his teenage victim had jumped in the shower and left the door ajar so the cat could get out and noticed a mobile phone being held through the ajar door.

Ms Robertson said: “She felt confused and ashamed. She remained in the shower until she felt the accused move away from the door.”
Police officers arrested Johnston, 37, and seized his computers, laptops and mobile phone.

He is due back in court next month.
