Rosyth man sentenced for child abuse images offences
A ROSYTH man who committed child sexual abuse images offences for over a decade has been sentenced.
Steven Wilkie, 57, of Caledonia Court, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He previously admitted that between May 15, 2006 and March 7, 2017 he was in possession of indecent images of children.
He also admitted that between December 1, 2003 and March 7, 2017 he downloaded indecent photographs of children.
Defence solicitor Russel McPhate said his client had a long-term history of depression and had turned to alcohol and pornography, which became “more and more extreme”.
“He was somewhat relieved when police caught up with him,” added the solicitor.
Sheriff Craig McSherry imposed a community payback order with 12 months’ supervision and 200 hours of unpaid work.
Wilkie was also placed on the sex offenders’ register.
