Pervert gets six years’ jail after encouraging abuse of boys
A PERVERT from St Helens who encouraged others to sexually abuse young boys and had a large collection of child abuse images was jailed for six years today (Friday, August 5).
A judge told Mark Anders, 47, that he was satisfied he poses a significant risk of serious harm and that Anders had believed the abuse he was encouraging would actually take place.
“You acknowledge it was not merely fantasy but in the belief that the offence would be carried out, that a child somewhere in the world would be sexually abused,” said Judge Neil Flewitt.
Liverpool Crown Court heard that the offences involved Anders, of Ingleton Drive, using the messaging service KIK, used by the homosexual community.
Anders was involved with a 50-strong group called ‘pics and vids of boys’ on the website.
In chats with two others, Anders spoke of “scouting for boys” aged 12 and 13 and had a conversation encouraging another man to commit rape.
Rob Jones, prosecuting, described the offences as “a very depraved state of affairs”.
As well as admitting three offences of encouraging and assisting child abuse, Anders also pleaded guilty to five offences involving downloading, possessing and distributing indecent images.
Mr Jones said that the images were found on Anders’ mobile phone after police raided his home on June 14.
There were a total of 1,150 images in all three categories of seriousness – including 402 in the most serious category – and he had distributed 175 photographs.
Anders was frank when interviewed and admitted that indecent images would be found on his phone starting with children aged one year upwards.
Mr Jones said: “More extreme images it is difficult to contemplate.”
Jailing him, Judge Flewitt said: “Every child featured in those images is the victim of sexual abuse and most, if not all, will have suffered physical, mental and emotional anguish as a result of what others have done to them.
“By downloading, retaining and sharing those images you create and feed the demand for such indecent material and so you have contributed directly to the abuse suffered by those children.”
Anders was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order was imposed.
