Pervert sentenced for grooming schoolgirls online
A pervert has avoided an immediate prison sentence after he was caught grooming three children online
Steven Michael Read, 27 of Wendover appeared at Aylesbury Crown Court and admitted:
Three counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child
The court was told that Read had contacted three girls online, and sent sexually explicit messages to each of them.
However, unknown to him, the girls were in-fact members of an online child protection team called ‘Totnes Justice’
The police were informed of his online activity and he was arrested and investigated.
The chatlogs were used as evidence and because of this Read admitted that he had been speaking to what he believed were three girls aged 14, 13 and 13
Read was sentenced to 8 months which was suspended for two years
He was told that he must complete 60 days rehabilitation activity requirement and 140 hours of unpaid work.
Read was also issued with a 10 year sexual harm prevention order and was ordered to register as a sex offender
