Man spared jail for having indecent photos of children

A businessman – sentenced for possessing indecent photos of children – was told by a judge “this is madness”.

Stephen Cumming, 46, of Laneward Close, Ilkeston, was spared jail for the offences when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday (November 28).

Judge Timothy Spencer QC heard the defendant had admitted three charges of making indecent photos of a child and one of possessing extreme pornographic images.

A police search of his home recovered computer equipment containing more than 200 indecent images of children, and 84 extreme images.

Judge Spencer told him: “Stephen Cumming, this is madness. You are a respectable married man with a family who clearly care for you.”

He handed him a total sentence of eight months in prison, suspended for one year.

And he order he be on a sexual harm prevention order and sign the sex offenders’ register for the next five years.
