Man jailed after being snared by paedophile hunters in Bishop’s Stortford

A man has been jailed after attempting to groom a boy online for sex in Bishop’s Stortford.

Unknown to Louis Treziese, from Cambridge, the ‘teenager’ he arranged to meet on May 18 this year was in fact a private investigator, who tipped off police.

He was sentenced to a year in prison at St Albans Crown Court on Tuesday (November 28).

Judge Andrew Bright said the sentence should “send a message loud and clear” to those preying on children that “you will go to prison”.

For the prosecution, Richard Paton-Philip explained how the private investigator, part of the ‘paedophile hunters’ group CSE Interceptors, posed as a 15-year-old boy on the dating app Grindr.

He read the messages sent between the two, in which Treziese, 37, from Cambridge, urged the boy to send him explicit photographs and made arrangements to meet for sex.

Mr Paton-Philip said: “The response is clear: ‘I can’t send nudes mate, I’m 15’.

“A meeting is arranged to take place behind a service station and the private investigator notifies police.

“The intervention prevents the meeting, and Mr Treziese is arrested.”

Treziese had initially denied the charge of attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming, but returned to court earlier this month to change his plea to guilty.

Judge Bright said: “I doubt they know the whole story, but they are prepared to speak well of you.

“There’s a lot of good to be said about you, [but] there’s an aspect of your personality that suggests you have a kink.”

Addressing the defendant, he said the investigator had been “fishing for people looking to abuse children and you took the bait”.

He added: “You did your best to engage in sexual activity with him. It shows a measure of persistence on your part.

“You didn’t seem at all reluctant and showed a total disregard that the person you thought you were sending messages to was a child.

“It could easily have been a real boy.

“Any parent of a 15-year-old boy would be disgusted and appalled.”
