Mother-of-two jailed for four years for sex with boy aged 14
A mother-of-two that sexually abused a schoolboy has been jailed for four years.
Housewife Jodie Hughes targeted the 14-yea-old and had sex with him at least twice, Wolverhampton crown court heard.
Sentencing her, Judge Mark Eades said 31-year-old Hughes had shown no remorse and was still in denial over what she had done.
“You set about seducing your victim, your motive was entirely selfish,” he said.
“You knew perfectly well that it was wrong and that if the whole thing came out you would be in trouble and that your friends and neighbours would regard it as disgusting.
“But you went ahead and had intercourse with him at least twice.
“The simple truth is a mature, adult woman cannot go about seducing a 14-year-old boy.”
The judge highlighted Hughes’ lack of contrition and regret, and he also pointed to the large age gap between her and her victim.
Addressing Hughes, he said: “There is no doubt in my mind that he has been adversely affected by your behaviour and the full ramifications may not be known for some time.
“You are not remorseful, you are still denying your guilt, but because of your particular circumstances and, in particular, with respect to your children, I am imposing a sentence of four years imprisonment.”
The 30-minute hearing was witnessed by a packed public gallery. At one point the judge issued a warning when a woman loudly repeated the victim’s age.
Hughes was told she would serve at least half the sentence and would be put on the sex offenders’ register for life. She showed no emotion in the dock.
Hughes, of Low Hill Crescent, Low Hill, Wolverhampton, was convicted by a jury of two counts of sexual activity with a child. She had denied the charges.
