Folkestone gym instructor became ‘addicted’ to looking at sick images of young children and animals
A former Folkestone gym instructor has avoided prison despite possessing nearly 1,000 sick images of children and animals being raped
Joshua Christie, 25, from Elham appeared at Canterbury Crown Court today (January 10) for sentencing after being found with some of the most serious images.
Canterbury Crown Court heard today (January 10) how Christie had developed a “habit” of looking at pictures and videos of young girls, including one believed to be as young as one year old.
The court also heard he possessed an extreme video of a 12 to 15-year-old girl masturbating a dog.
Christie, of Hog Green Lane, pleaded guilty at a previous court hearing to seven separate offences relating to indecent images of children and animals.
Christie was found to have made a total of 828 indecent images and videos of children, including the most serious (category A) which showed the rape of children
He admitted three charges of possessing indecent images of children, including 166 category C images, 36 category B images, 116 category A images.
He admitted three more charges of possessing indecent videos of children, including 257 videos in category A, 178 videos in category B and 75 videos in category C.
He also admitted a seventh charge of possessing 148 still and video images of extreme pornography depicting an animal, including a person having intercourse with an animal.
But he walked free from court when the Judge gave him a 16 month prison sentence suspended for two years.
In her summary Judge Brown said: “Many of the images and videos you viewed showed many girls in their early teens and some of much younger girls.
“One particularly serious example appeared to show a 12-18 month child.”
The judge also referred to another video showing a 12 to 15-year-old girl masturbating a dog.
The court heard analysis of two laptops and two memory sticks showed Christie had used search terms including “12-year-old”, “teen woman caught having sex with dog” and “video bestiality”.
Judge Brown said he was given full credit for his guilty pleas and she acknowledged that he was of previous good character.
She said he was “being given a chance, but any further breach of the law could lead to a custodial sentence”.
She told the court: “He doesn’t appear to fully understand the implications of these indecent images to others.”
Christie will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years and may be barred from working with children.
He must attend an accredited sex offenders program and complete a rehabilitation requirement of 30 days.
