Man who downloaded child and bestiality images spared jail sentence

A perverted Rugby man who downloaded indecent images of children and of sex with animals has escaped being jailed after a judge heard he has already sought counselling.

Lloyd Patton had pleaded guilty to three charges of possessing indecent images, including movies, of children and one of possessing extreme pornography.

Appearing at Warwick Crown Court, the 61-year-old, of Magdalen Road, Rugby was sentenced to eight months in prison suspended for 18 months and ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years.

Judge Murray Creed also ordered him to do 150 hours of unpaid work, to take part in a rehabilitation activity for 25 days, and to pay £340 costs.

Prosecutor Ian Windridge said in March the police executed a warrant at Patton’s home.

When he was told why they were there, his response was to say: “I was downloading some stuff the other day, and there was some videos. I deleted most of it.”

The officers seized items including his computer tower on which more than 100 indecent images were found, together with five movies.

All the illegal material appeared to have been downloaded fairly recently, observed Mr Windridge.

When interviewed, Patton – who had no previous convictions – admitted finding a website which the court heard was known to the police as one which involved indecent images.
