“Disgraceful and depraved” pervert
A “depraved” paedophile has been finally been bought to justice after his victim had the courage to speak out 35 years later.
Gary Mottershead was described as “depraved” for indecently assaulting the schoolboy between 1981 and 1983.
The 50-year-old, of Norris Road, Sale, denied the offences but was found guilty of rape and five counts of indecency with a child.
Detective Constable Paul Walls, of Greater Manchester Police’s Trafford team, said: “Mottershead’s behaviour shows his depravity as a sex offender.
“The way he acted is absolutely disgraceful – I am so grateful to the victim that he bravely reported Mottershead’s actions so we could bring him to justice.”
He was sentenced to six years behind bars at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Friday
“This sentence shows that no matter how long it has been since a sexual offence occurred, we take every report seriously,” the police officer added.
“We work tirelessly to ensure those responsible face the consequences of their actions.
“Mottershead will spend the next six years safely behind bars.”
