Disgraced Stoke-on-Trent City Council worker caught with hundreds of indecent photos
A council worker has been sacked after he was sent to prison for downloading indecent images of children – including image of baby being sexually abused
Anthony Rawlingson, who was a Stoke-on-Trent City Council employee, was found to have hundreds of photographs on his laptop.
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard many involved very young children, and one even featured a baby – no more than a few weeks old – being abused.
Prosecutor Peter McCartney said police raided Rawlingson’s home on April 11 and seized his laptop computer.
Investigators subsequently found 562 indecent images of children.
Of those, 162 images and two videos were classed as Category A – the most serious category showing the rape of young children
Mr McCartney said officers also found Rawlingson, aged 56, had been chatting online to other men about children being abused.
He said: “On the laptop was evidence of Skype chats between a user called Rolo1960 – 1960 being the defendant’s year of birth – and another user. They were sexually explicit in nature. There were further Skype chats with other users referring to abuse of children and indecent images.”
Rawlingson, of Gilman Street, Hanley, was arrested and pleaded guilty to three charges of possessing indecent images of children between February 2016 and April this year.
Judge Jinder Singh Boora sentenced Rawlingson to 12 months in prison. He said: “On your laptop were indecent images of a very serious nature. It is hard to fathom how they could have been more serious.
