‘Sexual predator of the worst kind’ jailed for child sex abuse spanning decades
A ‘sexual predator of the worst kind’ has been jailed for eight years for child sexual abuse spanning decades.
Matthew Mansfield, 37, was handed the sentence for sexually abusing a young girl as well as possessing indecent images of children of the most extreme kind, Bedfordshire Police said.
Mansfield, of Axe Close, Luton, was arrested in 2016 and a number of computer devices seized after police received intelligence suggesting an IP address linked to him had been sharing images of child sexual abuse.
The devices seized were found to have hundreds of child sexual abuse images, including almost 700 of the most severe category involving very young children.
Following the discovering Mansfield was charged with three counts relating to the indecent images of children.
While he was on bail pending a court appearance, he went to Luton Police Station where he confessed to sexually abusing a young girl over a period of several years in the late 1990s and early 2000s, leading to additional charges of nine counts of indecent assault of a child.
