‘Evil’ sex beast, 45, took photographs as he abused schoolgirl
‘Evil’ Martin Rowley of First Avenue, Porthill has been locked up for sexually abusing a child – after police found a camera locked in a drawer next to his bed.
Photos on the camera captured the moment the 45-year-old carried out the sexual assault on the youngster.
Staffordshire Police discovered the camera during a search of the defendant’s home after he posted an indecent internet image onto a social media site.
Examination of his computer equipment revealed he had been viewing indecent images of children.
Now Rowley has been jailed for six years and eight months after admitting a string offences.
Prosecutor Lynette McClement said: “Police received information that the defendant had uploaded an indecent image to social media.
“Officers executed a warrant at his address. While there they found a camera in a locked drawer next to the defendant’s bed. It was taken back to a forensic lab for further examination and other bits of equipment were seized.
“It became clear to officers these were not photos he had downloaded from somewhere, but that he had taken them himself.”
Rowley, who lives in Newcastle borough, pleaded guilty to assault by penetration of a child under 13 and three charges of taking indecent photographs of a child. He also admitted making indecent images of a child and making an indecent moving image of a child, which related to material he accessed online.
A statement from the girl’s mother was read out at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
It read: “Since being made aware of the despicable and evil actions of Martin Rowley, my life has fallen apart. I feel my world has collapsed – there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.”
Jailing Rowley, Judge Jinder Singh Boora branded him ‘evil’. Judge Boora said: “You are an evil man who has committed an evil crime. You downloaded images of other children for your own sexual gratification.”
Rowley was also handed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will remain on the Sex Offenders’ Register for the rest of his life.
Pervert pleads guilty to the abuse of young child
Martin Rowley, aged 45, of First Avenue, Porthill, pleaded guilty to assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
He also admitted three offences of taking indecent photographs of children and two charges of making indecent photographs of children.
Rowley will be sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court after a report is prepared on him by a probation officer. He was granted bail.
