Man in his fifties warned to expect jail term after admitting child abuse charges
A MAN who repeatedly sexually abused a 10-year-old girl has been warned to expect a lengthy jail term.
Clifford Pilley had denied two charges of sexual assault of a child under 13 when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court in September.
But the case was brought back before a judge when the 55-year-old changed his pleas to plead guilty to the two allegations.
Pilley, of Home Farm, Highworth, admitted carrying out the sex attacks on Wednesday May 31 and on at least two occasions earlier in the month.
At the earlier hearing he admitted nine charges relating to hundreds of indecent images and movies of children and extreme pornography on his computer.
Judge Tim Mousley QC adjourned the case to Friday December 15 so presentence and psychiatric reports can be prepared and released him on bail.
He said “I would have thought that custody in overwhelmingly likely: the reports will only go to the length of sentence.”
