Paedophile used hidden spy camera in bathroom to film boys and girls

A paedophile used a hidden spy camera on a bathroom ceiling to film boys and girls washing and going to the toilet.

Benjamin Jones then went online to brag to fellow perverts about how he “got lucky” recording his five victims.

But the 32-year-old was actually talking to an undercover police officer and sent her a sickening photo and video.

Liverpool Crown Court heard Jones was caught thanks to an operation carried out by London’s Metropolitan Police.

Christopher Taylor, prosecuting, said Jones visited a website where adult files can be shared.

Jones, aka “Fresh Male 26”, started a conversation with the officer and revealed he was using a “spy camera”.

Mr Taylor said: “The defendant told her he likes voyeurism and he gets to secretly watch. He said he got lucky this weekend.”

The pair left a chatroom and continued talking on Skype, with Jones now using the moniker “Dirty Male UK”.

He said he had footage of children undressing, taking a bath and going to the toilet and sent an image of one of his victims.

Jones later broadcast a video to the officer of two children, aged approximately 11 and 12, having sex with an adult.

Police raided his home in Borough Road East, Wallasey on March 13 this year and seized his phone and computer.

He accepted using the website and admitted downloading indecent images of children and installing the spy camera.

Jones used Tor browser software, which provides access to the “Dark Web” and can be used to hide activity.

Of the 637 unique indecent images still on his equipment, there were 251 Category A files – the most serious category.

The disgusting stash, which also included 220 Category B and 166 Category C images, featured one 31-minute video.

In total he had directly taken 19 videos and photos of his victims, using his phone connected to the spy camera.

The mum of one of the victims told the court his behaviour “fills me with disgust and is something I will never comprehend”.

She said she felt “physically sick” thinking about his crimes, which could take her daughter years to recover from.

Another shocked parent said her daughter was embarrassed and feared images of her would be seen by others.

Jones, now of Macdonald Road, Moreton , admitted three counts of downloading and one of possessing indecent images of children.

The pervert also admitted one count of taking and two of distributing indecent images of children, plus possessing prohibited images.

Judge Denis Watson, QC, said Jones had told the officer “whether boastful or not” that he had “got lucky” with the haul.

Jailing him for two years and eight months, he said: “You have as is plain a sexual interest in underage children, but you took this to a completely different level.”

The judge handed Jones an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and told him to sign on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
