Pervert Anthony Hopkins jailed for historic offences against young boy and girl
A pervert who molested a seven-year-old boy has been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely.
At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Anthony Hopkins was found guilty of using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards the schoolboy at an address in the city’s Dalmarnock area in 2000.
The now 56-year-old accused climbed into the young boy’s bed before carrying out an indecent act.
Hopkins was also found guilty at trial of using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards a teenage girl at an address in Carntyne between 2002 and 2003.
The accused entered the schoolgirl’s bed, lay beside her, exposed his genitals and performed a sex act in her presence.
In defence, the accused’s lawyer disagreed with what was written in the Criminal Justice Social Work report and argued that the crimes were opportunistic rather than planned.
Hopkins, of Barlinnie prison, was deemed as a low risk of reoffending.
Sheriff McKenzie told the accused that there was no other disposal other than custody due to the “gravity of the offences”.
He was sentenced to three years in jail, backdated to when he was first remanded in custody on May 15.
Hopkins will also be subject to the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely.
