Pervert who lives near three Whitley Bay schools caught with indecent images of kids
A pervert who lives near three Whitley Bay schools was caught with more than 600 indecent images of children.
Michael Farrar was found with the vile stash, which he had collected between May 2015 and November 2016, when police searched his home in Marwood Court.
Magistrates heard that officers were alerted to explicit child pictures being downloaded on to a computer at that address by internet giant Google and executed a search warrant.
They seized the 34-year-old’s Del laptop and found the sick collection, which included 18 Category A images – the most serious kind that involve penetrative activity.
Farrar, whose home is within walking distance of Valley Gardens Middle School, Whitley Bay High School and Southridge First School, was arrested and claimed he’d downloaded the pictures when he was “drunk and bored”, prosecutors said.
Now, the pervert is facing a prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images at North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.
Rebecca Laverick, prosecuting, said Google contacted the police in August 2016 after the internet search giant became aware potential indecent images were being downloaded on a computer at Farrar’s address.
Officer’s obtained a warrant and swooped on the house three-months-later on November 24.
Ms Laverick said: “A Del laptop was seized. When that was analysed, the images were found. Eighteen were of Category A, 19 of Category B and 569 of Category C.
“The defendant was interviewed and accepted he was responsible for the images on the laptop and said it was something he did when he was drunk and bored.”
Magistrates adjourned the case for the preparation of a Pre-Sentence Report but didn’t rule out sending Farrar to Newcastle Crown Court on the next occasion.
He was released on unconditional bail to next appear at North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on November 1.
