Mum makes citizen arrest of paedophile who raped schoolgirl, 13

A paedophile who raped a 13-year-old schoolgirl has been jailed – after his victim’s mum ran to his house and made a citizen’s arrest.

Fortune Aragua, 25, from Stockwell approached his 13-year-old victim after she had been playing with a friend after school, a court heard.

He took her back to his bedroom where she was sexually assaulted and raped.

But when the girl returned home and told her family, her mum rushed to Aragua’s front door and managed to conduct a citizens arrest on the rapist before calling police.

Aragua was convicted at Inner London Crown Court earlier this year of rape, attempted rape and the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl.

Today Aragua – who also uses the alias Izevbigie Sylvester – was jailed for eight years at Wood Green Crown Court.

He will also spend the rest of his life on the sex offenders register.

During the horrific sex attack on February 10 this year the schoolgirl had returned home from school with a friend before the girls walked to the shops in Stockwell, south London.

When her pal left, the victim was approached by Aragua who began to chat to her and asked for her mobile number – despite her telling him she was only 13.

The paedophile persuaded the girl to return to his home and locked the front door as soon as they arrived.

He offered the girl a drink, but she refused.

Aragua then began kissing the victim but was interrupted by his landlady returning home at which point he locked the girl inside his bedroom until she left.

He then sexually assaulted the girl and – despite her protests – carried on to rape her before allowing her to get dressed and leave.

Following the citizen’s arrest and his subsequent police arrest, Aragua was charged on February 12 when he denied rape and sexual assault.

He claimed he had only ever seen the victim shortly before he was arrested when she appeared unwell outside his flat and said he had offered his assistance before going home.

But forensics discovered the victim’s DNA on his body and clothing, including inside his boxer shorts.
