Man jailed for 20 years for child sex offences

A man from Rayleigh has been jailed for 20 years for sexually abusing young boys.

Glen Bartlett, 60, of Downhall Park Way, Rayleigh, was arrested in October 2015 after allegations of child sexual abuse were made to Essex Police.

The offences relate to two boys under the age of 16 over the period of a decade

He was charged with 10 counts of buggery and two counts of indecent assault on a boy aged under 16 on Saturday, May 20.

Following a day trial at Norwich Crown Court, he was found guilty of all offences on Wednesday, September 27.

Today, at the same court, he was jailed for 20 years.

Rayleigh man convicted of child sex abuse

A MAN from Rayleigh has been convicted of a string of sex offences against young boys.

Glen Bartlett was arrested in October 2015 after police received allegations of historic child abuse.

The offences relate to two boys under the age of 16 over the period of a decade dating back to the late 1970s and into the 1980s.

On May 20, Bartlett, 60, of Downhall Park Way, Rayleigh, was charged with 10 counts of buggery and two counts of indecent assault on a boy aged under 16.

At Norwich Crown Court on Wednesday, September 27, he was found guilty of all the charges.

He has been remanded in custody is due to be sentenced at the same court on Friday, November 10.
