Jailed: Paedophile who sexually abused young girl at Battersea church for years
A paedophile who repeatedly sexually abused a young girl at a south London church has been jailed for a decade.
Carl Johnson, 53, of Bowden Drive, Dulwich was sentenced at Kingston Crown Court after being found guilty of offences carried out in the 1990s.
He used his position as a member of the Battersea church community to groom his young victim, beginning in 1991.
He gradually progressed to sexual abusing her and carried out multiple offences up until 1995, while she was aged between 13 and 15.
His victim contacted police about the abuse in 2014 and an investigation was immediately launched.
Johnson was found guilty after a five-day trial and was today sentenced to ten years behind bars.
