October 2017: Llywarch died in prison
‘Depraved’ child rapist gets life
A paedophile who preyed on boys and girls for nearly 30 years has been jailed for life.
John Llywarch (58) pleaded guilty at Stafford Crown Court yesterday to 15 charges of indecent assault and two rapes of boys aged nine. Twelve similar offences were allowed to remain on the court file.
Judge John Shand told Llywarch, of Weston Rhyn, near Oswestry, Shropshire: ‘You were still preying on children when these matters came to light in the middle last year.
‘That clearly indicates to me, without the necessity of medical or other reports, that over the years you have presented and now continue to present a very substantial risk of serious harm to children. Put bluntly, you are a dangerous paedophile.
‘I also take into account the dreadful effects on those you abused – one boy in particular, who was mute with misery. What you committed was of the utmost depravity.’
The judge said Llywarch must serve at least nine years before he could be considered for parole. He was also put on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
