Deviant jailed for ‘bestial’ rape of girl
A sexual deviant who tricked a 14-year-old girl into walking down an alleyway with him and then raped her while armed with a four-inch knife was jailed for life
Christopher Morin’s behaviour was branded as “bestial” by Judge Trevor Barber at Sheffield Crown Court . Homeless Morin, 27, whose last fixed address was in Wakefield, denied raping the girl in Doncaster on July 9 this year.
But the jury took less than two hours to decide that Morin – who claimed that the sex was consensual – had in fact raped his victim.
The judge jailed him for life after it was revealed he had a number of convictions for sex crimes in a long criminal history which began when he was 13.
He told Morin: “You are 27 years old and your previous offending shows you to be violent and a sexual deviant. The conduct of this trial only serves to highlight that. “On July 9, you wanted sex and you selected a totally innocent 14-year-old girl and you terrified her and treated her with disgusting violence. “Your behaviour was simply bestial.”
Judge Barber added that Morin had shown no sign of remorse and recommended that he serve a minimum of seven years.
During the week-long trial, the court heard that Morin had been in Doncaster on July 9 to look for a former girlfriend and the mother of his young son, whom he had not seen for some years.
After a fruitless search and a brief encounter with a prostitute, Morin was sitting on a bench by the railway station at around 11pm when he saw his young victim on her way home.
He started walking with the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and tricked her into going down an alleyway with him.
However, as soon as they were out of sight, Morin raped the girl in an attack that only stopped when a passer-by became suspicious about her screams.
As the girl begged for help, Morin ran off and a short time later found a prostitute with whom he had sex three times.
The court was told Morin had started offending when he was just 13 years old and had a string of convictions for crimes involving sex and violence.
When he was 18, he was convicted of indecent assault on a girl under 16 and sent to a Young Offender Institution for 10 months.
In 1995, he was sent to a Young Offender Institution for 18 months after being convicted of two counts of having sex with a girl under the age of 13 and burglary and aggravated vehicle taking.
He was jailed for four months of 1996 for handling charges and the following year was jailed for six years for wounding and robbery.
