Nanny who made ‘disgusting’ indecent images of girls as young as one-year-old walks free from court
A nanny who shared ‘disgusting’ indecent photos of girls as young as one with her ex-partner has walked free from court.
Elliana Ede-Borrett, of Sumner Road, Croydon, would send images to the man she was in a relationship with via Dropbox.
The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of a child but was sentenced to a 60 day community order and ordered to sign the sex offenders register.
The court heard how she made 47 images, 12 of which were of the most serious category
She had been charged with making 12 category A images, 18 category B images and 17 category C images between September 23, 2015 and May 3, 2016.
However, no link was found between the the images and the children who were in Ede-Borrett’s care.
District Judge Stephen Dawson said that because of the “unique” circumstances in the case, it would not have been appropriate to give Ede-Borrett a custodial sentence.
The court heard how the part-time nanny had formed a relationship with a man from Sunderland online.
The man – who has had no criminal action taken against him – then coerced Ede-Borrett to send images to him via Dropbox, the court was told.
Peter Lancaster, prosecuting, said: “Around 2015 she met a man from Sunderland on the internet and got into a relationship with him.
“She downloaded images onto Dropbox and then he would have access to the images. They would communicate with each other over Skype and they would both look at the images and masturbate.
Ede-Borrett was arrested on May 3, 2016 when an address in Stockwell, where she was staying at the time, was raided by police.
At the address, a Samsung tablet and phone were recovered which had indecent images on – both of which have now been forfeited.
When sentencing, Judge Dawson said: “On the basis of the facts of this case, she was being used by the looks of it.
“The man involved left it for her to take responsibility for the images and his hands were clean. Even if he was detected, because of the way he set it up, it looks as if he was making a good job of protecting himself.”
He added: “Having heard the background to this I’ve come to the conclusion that this is a situation where because of your vulnerability, you have been used by somebody in order for him to gain access to the disgusting photos.”
Judge Dawson added that because of this, a custodial sentence would not necessarily be beneficial to Ede-Borrett, or the public, as she would not be rehabilitated as well as she would away from prison.
Ede-Borrett was sentenced to a 60-day community order for all counts, and they will run concurrently.
Part of this will include a rehabilitation requirement and she will be given weekly appointments.
She will also have to sign on to the Sexual Offenders Register for five years, pay costs of £100 and a victim surcharge of £85.

A part-time nanny has admitted making dozens of indecent images of children as young as one, a prosecutor said.

The victims involved were thought to be girls aged between one and six.
The 22-year-old, from Croydon, south London, admitted the offences today, a prosecutor at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court confirmed after the hearing.
The defendant was charged with making 12 category A images, 18 category B images and 17 category C images between September 23 2015 and May 3 2016
She was released on bail and ordered not to contact any child under the age of 16 unless their parents or guardians are aware of the convictions.
