Scotland’s worst sex fiends who carried out nearly 2,000 rapes on terrified women jailed on same day

TWO vile monsters who racked up more than 1,900 rapes between them in over two decades of sickening abuse have been caged.

Brian McTaggart, 54, and John Dickson, 38, were both locked up for horrific sexual and domestic violence.

The former attacked Kathleen McMurchie more than 900 times – up to three times a week during their 10-year marriage.

He was handed a life sentence for his disgusting acts between 1980 and 2004 during which time he hurled his then-wife down the stairs and threw a hairdryer into her bath.

Dickson was meantime jailed for 14 years in the next courtroom at Glasgow’s High Court.

The beast raped one woman more than 1,000 times and tortured another by attacking her with his nine foot boa constrictor snake.

The evil pair were finally brought to justice after their brave victims testified against them.

McTaggart was convicted last September for preying on a total of 18 victims.

He also battered his son David, 31, who told how the sicko was “worse than Lucifer”.

Not proven verdicts were returned for charges over other accounts of rape and sexual attacks, including one on son David.

The court heard how he told his wife he should not be deprived of sex because she “had a bairn” having attacked her shortly after she had given birth.

Another victim was attacked while she was sleeping.

When she awoke and pleaded “no”, he simply replied: “You belong to me, I can do anything I want.”

His controlling attitude was today described as belonging to the “stone age” by judge Lord Mulholland.

McTaggart was also found guilty of indecently assaulting girls and boys as he also physically assaulted other women and teens.

He admitted that he had “done a lot wrong” but denied being a rapist and insisted he was victim of a “witch-hunt”.

Prosecutor Mark McGuire said: “McTaggart was only interested in domination, humiliation and sexual gratification.”

The judge told how his victims were “treated as punchbags and chattels” with many being “beaten into submission”, and McTaggart was ordered to serve at least eight years behind bars.

Dickson, an ex-labourer, was meanwhile jailed for a horrifying 17-year reign of abuse against four women.

One revealed to the court how she recalled being “in tears” as he regularly raped her.

The beast tormented another with his large Boa Constrictor snake before using “Mitch” to assault her as she felt “uncomfortable” around the serpent.

The attacks were so regular – sometimes when she was sleeping – they ended up feeling “normal”.

This included him raping her on a train to Edinburgh during which time he forced her over the sink in the toilet, locked the door and had sex with her.

Jurors heard how she was often battered, spat on and branded a “slut”.

She told the court how during one attack she was “punched from head to toe for over an hour”.

Cheating Dickson even fathered a child with another woman while dating her.

Two of his other partners were victims of his ferocious temper as one was heard to have been cowering in a storage cupboard close to his flat holding a knife because “she was scared of him”.

The predator was found guilty of five charges including rape and domestic abuse in crimes that took place in Motherwell, mainly between 2000 and 2017.

He maintains his innocence.

Judge Graeme Buchanan said the women had suffered “degrading and humiliating ordeals.”

He added: “This was a course of criminal conduct of a quite extreme nature and you have shown no remorse whatsoever.”

Dickson will be monitored for four years after his release.

Man raped woman 900 times and kicked her down stairs

A man raped a woman more than 900 times, dropped a hair dryer into her bath and pushed her down stairs.

Brian McTaggart, 53, was found guilty of sexual and physical abuse against 18 victims in Dundee.

The beast, of Dundee, destroyed the lives of 18 victims during a 24-year reign of terror.

On one occasion he raped the woman in front of a child and another time he pushed his victim over a barrier.

McTaggart attacked another woman up to three times a week during their 10-year marriage — and battered and raped their son

The son waived his right to anonymity along with his mum, saying the predator “ruined his life” and revealed he bathed in bleach after the alleged abuse in 2011.

He went on: “He was volatile. He battered me as a child but nothing homosexual until I told people I was gay. He raped me when his girlfriend was sleeping in the other room. I was hysterical.

“I spent eight hours in the police station that night then I went in for a bath with bleach in it, I still do that to this day.”

During his father’s trial at the High Court in Glasgow, David told jurors: “When he opened a bottle of vodka he changed.

“He behaved as if he was possessed by the devil.”

Another rape victim, now aged 43, was choked and then had her head forced under water by McTaggart.

A third was raped on four occasions as she slept and when she woke up and said no, McTaggart carried on raping her.

He told his victims: “You belong to me. I can do anything I want.”

McTaggart was convicted at the High Court in Glasgow for all the offences at addresses in Dundee between 1980 and 2001.

This included the rape of three women. He also indecently assaulted teenage girls and boys and physically abused other women and teenagers.

Not proven verdicts were returned for charges of raping a fourth woman and a male.

Judge Lord Mulholland told McTaggart: “Your conduct was deplorable, treating a succession of woman as chattels and punchbags.

“You repeatedly raped three of these women and you have shown no remorse for your sexual crimes.”

Lord Mulholland placed McTaggart on the sex offenders register and told him he was considering imposing an order for lifelong restriction.

His sentence was deferred until November for a risk assessment and a background report.

In evidence, the 53-year-old woman said she put up with it because she loved him.

She said: “He raped me two or three times a week over six years. He also raped me shortly after I had given birth.”

The woman said McTaggart would be sorry for what he had done after the rapes and violence.

She added: “He was always all apologies and buying me flowers.”

He also physically assaulted victims during a 20-year reign of terror at addresses in the city.

McTaggart’s violence included battering a woman near Christmas because she wore his Dundee United top and poked people in the eyes in what he claimed was a wrestling move.

The 30-year-old man who accused McTaggart of raping him said he was a nice person until he drank vodka.

The victim said: “When he opened a bottle of vodka he changed. He behaved as if he was possessed by the devil.”

Prosecutor Mark McGuire said of McTaggart: “His sexually depraved conduct blighted lives. He abused, assaulted and took advantage took advantage of almost every single person he came across.

“Mr McTaggart was only interested in domination, humiliation and sexual gratification.”

McTaggart has a number of previous convictions for violence and breach of the peace.

He showed no emotion as he was led away to the cells.
