Police welcome sentence for Wood End pervert, 18
POLICE have welcomed the sentence handed to a Coventry man after he admitted inciting a teenage girl to perform sexual acts on children.
John Hayden, aged 18 and formerly of Wood End, was given an indefinite hospital order, which means he will be kept in a secure hospital until he is no longer a threat to the public.
As the Telegraph reported yesterday, he was also placed on the Sex Offender Register for life and handed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order at Coventry Crown Court.
New York police launched an investigation after discovering a 13-year-old girl with indecent images of children on her mobile phone.
They discovered Hayden met the girl online in 2008. She sent him sexually explicit images of herself at his request.
He later asked her to sexually abuse her two nieces, aged three and 11 months and send the images to him.
Officers linked Hayden to the girl and he was arrested. Images of a further 13-year-old girl were also found on his computer.
Hayden pleaded guilty to eight counts of making indecent images, two of arranging or facilitating commission of a child sex offence and three of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
A count of producing of child pornography and possessing extreme pornography will lie on file.
Detective Inspector Kay Wallace said: “Hayden posed a great threat to young people and this sentencing will go along way to protecting young and vulnerable children in the future.”
