James/Lee Dorward – Sunderland

Taxi driver and son caught with separate stashes of indecent images of children

A pervert father and son were caught with separate stashes of indecent images of children at the home they shared.

Police seized the computers of James and Lee Dorward and found the sick pictures and movies of boys and girls, which involved kids as young as eight.

Newcastle Crown Court heard that some of the images and videos fell into category A, the most serious kind showing penetrative sexual activity, and were discovered separately on the pair’s computers.

On taxi driver James Dorward’s hard drives, officers discovered 17 “moving images” of the most serious nature involving girls between the ages of eight and 12.

Meanwhile, on his son Lee’s devices, 25 “moving images” of boys between 10 and 16 were found, including 19 category A, the court was told.

Now the pair, both of Franklin Street, Sunderland , have been given three-year community orders and must attend sex offender group work programmes after they pleaded guilty to a number of offences of possessing or making the indecent pictures.

Sentencing them, Recorder Richard Woolfall said: “This is perhaps a sad day for father and son to be both in the dock together having committed such serious offences.

“It may not have been apparent to you at the time but real children are sexually abused to satisfy people with interests such as yourselves who enjoy viewing this depraved material.

“You may have thought that you were so far removed from it that there was perhaps no harm in it. But, may I tell you now, real children are sexually abused and they have to live with that and that destroys, often, their lives.”

Penny Bottomley, prosecuting, said James, 63, had collected his stash between 2006 and 2012, while Lee, 37, had downloaded his in June 2015.

She said: “On January 26 2016, a search warrant was executed in Franklin Street in Sunderland, the home of James and Lee Dorward, father and son.

“The police seized various computers and hard drives from the property and they were forensically examined.”

The prosecutor said 17 moving category A images were found on James’s computers, while 19 category A, five category B and one category C were discovered on Lee’s.

Police also found evidence of “sexual chat” between Lee and other adult internet users, two of whom had the profile names “Tight and Shiney” and “Tight and Young”.

James, who has no past convictions, pleaded guilty to one count of making indecent images and one of possessing them, while his son admitted three counts of making indecent images and one of possessing them.

Both men must sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years and were also made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years.
