Pervert avoids prison after grooming schoolgirl for sex
A pervert that groomed a vulnerable 14-year-old schoolgirl for sex has avoided an immediate prison sentence.
Paul Bartlett, 22 of Seaford, appeared at Leeds Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to:
Sexual activity with penetration against a female child aged under 16
Possession of indecent images of children
The court was told that Bartlett, who was in a relationship with a woman at the time of the offences, groomed the schoolgirl over a period of months.
Bartlett arranged to meet the girl who suffered from mental health issues and persuaded her to have sexual intercourse.
The offences took place in Otley, Leeds
When police investigated the grooming, they found indecent images of young girls on his phone, which he had searched for and downloaded from a website used by paedophiles from around the world
The judge sentenced Bartlett to a three year community order with a rehabilitation order included
A sexual harm prevention order was made, which prohibits Bartlett from being in the company of any female aged under 16 or contacting any female under 16 online.
Various restrictions were also placed on his internet use
He was told that he must register as a sex offender for five years
