Man who sexually assaulted young girl jailed
A Liverpool man was jailed for pinning a seven-year-old girl to the ground and sexually assaulting her.
Andrew Harrickie, 42, admitted molesting the youngster on New Year’s Eve, last December.
The child told her mum about the attack, which happened in Kendal, a few days later.
Carlisle Crown Court was told Harrickie’s home in Balmoral Road, Kensington was searched where “rather disturbing pictures of young children” were found on his laptop.
His internet history was checked and a “junior nudist” theme emerged.
Nick Kennedy, prosecuting, said: “There were a large number of images of naked boys and girls from the ages of five to 16 – some pictures with naked adults.
“It is not illegal to possess such images, although the Crown submit they were highly inappropriate.”
Harrickie was said to have several previous convictions.
He had served a short prison sentence for an excess alcohol offence, and been given a six-year jail term for “attempted strangulation”.
Harrickie was jailed for two years and nine months by Judge Peter Hughes.
He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register indefinitely and is barred from working with children and vulnerable adults.
