‘Shameful’ day in court for man with hundreds of indecent images of children
A judge told a Beeston man caught with indecent images of children “this is a shameful day”.
Police seized David Young’s computer equipment after he was suspected of having the shocking pictures on his computer.
Analysis uncovered more than 600 images of young girls.
Judge Timothy Spencer QC, who sentenced him today (August 7), said: “This is a shameful day or the most shameful day in your life; that you should come to the crown court for this sort of offending.”
Jobless Young, 38, of Riverside Road, pleaded guilty. He admitted possessing prohibited images of children, and he accepted he made indecent photographs of a child.
There were 19 images, of girls aged 12 to 16 years, at Category A – the most serious. Thirty-three pictures were at Category B and were girls aged 12 to 16 years. More than 500 were in Category C.
Young had told police he came across the indecent images by mistake and deleted them straight away.
Mark Knowles, prosecuting, said: “He said he downloaded music and adult pornography. He indicated he had not downloaded the various images.”
But he was interviewed by officers again and “accepted to some degree what was on there” (his computer), added Mr Knowles.
One indecent image of a 12-year-old with adults was computer generated and lasted 30 seconds.
Young left court with an 18-month community order, 120 hours of unpaid work and 25 days of a rehabilitation activity requirement. He was also given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
