Yate man had sex with two girls aged 14 and groped another aged 15

A pervert who had sex with two under-age girls and groped a third, has been spared prison.

Jake Waterman met the youngsters and, after they had been drinking together, had sex with two 14-year-olds, a court heard.

Although the matter was reported, no further action was taken.

A year later he went on to grope a girl aged 15.

The 23-year-old’s victims and families spoke about his actions, with one calling him “disgusting” and another saying: “He has mentally destroyed me.”

Waterman, of Long Croft in Yate, pleaded guilty to three charges of having sexual activity with a child.

David Scutt, prosecuting, said Waterman had intimacy with the two younger girls at a place known as “One Stop Field”, Brimsham Green, after getting alcohol.

Although both girls refused his advances, he persisted and had sex with both, the court heard.

After the matter was reported Waterman was arrested – but due to a complainant not feeling able to pursue matters at the time no further action was taken.

A year later a third girl reported how Waterman touched her private parts and he was re-arrested.

The complainants gave impact statements detailing the devastating consequences of their experiences.

udge Julian Lambert handed Waterman a two-year suspended prison sentence, with a year-long curfew and a two-year residential requirement.
