Burton man pestered teen girl to send indecent pictures of herself
A Burton man “pestered and badgered” a 14-year-old girl until she agreed to film herself performing a sex act, a judge heard today (Friday).
Jack Griffiths, aged 22, also sent her intimate photographs of himself despite knowing her age.
Griffiths, of South Lodge, Burton, admitted two offences of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Carina Hughes, prosecuting, said Griffiths “met” the girl on Snapchat and after several conversations began to ask her to send him photographs of “something other than your face.”
Despite blocking Griffiths for a while she resumed contact and sent him a photograph of her in her bra and then one of her topless.
Miss Hughes told Swansea crown court hows the exchanges escalated and they began swapping short videos.
Rumours began to go round the school she attended that she was seeing an older man and a teacher spoke to her and then to her mother.
When she arrived home her mother confronted her and she broke down.
Miss Hughes said police traced Griffiths and found the messages they had exchanged still on his computer.
Jim Davis, the barrister representing Griffiths, said there had never been any danger of the relationship ever progressing beyond “cyber sex.”
Griffiths was made the subject of a three year community order and told to complete 20 days of rehabilitation activities and to attend a sex offenders’ workshop.
Judge Keith Thomas warned him that if his attitude did not change then the programme would not be successful and he would replace the sentence with a period in prison.
