Former Jersey businessman sentenced to 8 years in prison for indecently assaulting a child
A former businessman in Jersey has been sentenced to eight years in prison for indecently assaulting a child.
48-year-old Mark Loane is well-known in the business community, after he set up the firm C5 Alliance.
He was found guilty of six counts of indecent assault in July, and was sentenced to 8 years in prison at the Royal Court today.
He has also been placed on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years and was ordered to pay £50,000 compensation to the victim.

A Jersey businessman has been found guilty of indecently assaulting a young girl over a number of years
48-year-old Mark Loane, who set up C5 Alliance, gave no reaction as the verdict was read out at Jersey’s Royal Court this afternoon.
It took the jury around three hours to unanimously find him guilty of all six counts of indecent assault.
The abuse was carried out over a number of years until the victim was around 16-years-old.
As part of the trial the victim gave an emotional account of what happened to her and said she was terrified of her attacker.
The jury was also played a secret recording of when she confronted Loane.
Loane has been remanded in custody and has been placed on the sex offender’s register.
He will be given a date for sentencing on the 28th of July.
