Jail for man who sexually abused young boy
An Afan Valley man has been jailed for four years for sexually abusing a young boy.
Elwyn Marc Roberts had denied a single count of sexual assault on a child under 13 but was found guilty following a trial at Swansea Crown Court.
The 37-year-old, of Heol Cwmmawr, Cwmavon , appeared in the dock on Tuesday morning to be sentenced.
The court heard he had removed the boy’s trousers and sexually abused him.
Robin Rouch, for Roberts, said his client continued to maintain his innocence but accepted the legal process.
Judge Mervyn Hughes QC told the defendant his victim was at an “innocent stage of life” and didn’t yet fully realise what had happened, but would do so as he grew up.
Roberts was sentenced to four years in prison, and made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order controlling his access to youngsters. He will also be on the sex offenders register for life.
