Pervert soldier groomed schoolgirl for sex
A soldier that groomed a schoolgirl online for sexual activity has avoided a prison sentence
At his trial on 30 June, Martin Lee Hutchinson, 31 years old originally from Gateshead but now living in Durham was found guilty by a jury at Newcastle Crown Court of:
Causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
Arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence
The court was told that Hutchinson had contacted the 14-year-old victim online.
Hutchinson quickly turned the conversation sexually explicit, and images of his naked body were sent to the child.
He groomed the girl into thinking that she was his girlfriend and that she should keep their ‘relationship’ a secret
The court heard that Hutchinson persuaded the schoolgirl to meet on several occasions, where sexual intercourse took place
Hutchinson was fully aware of the girls age, due to meeting her on one occasion whilst she was still in school uniform
The judge sentenced him to a total of 24 months imprisonment suspended for two years
Hutchinson was told that he must take part in a rehabilitation activity requirement for 30 days
He was also sent on a sex offender programme for 54 days and a sexual harm prevention order until further notice was issued
He must now register as sex offender for a period of 10 years
