Marske man found with dozens of child abuse images
A Marske man actively searched for child sexual abuse images and was found to have over 100 still and moving images in his possession.
Andrew Simpson has now admitted possessing 146 indecent images over a five year period – some of which were in category A – the most serious category.
Appearing at Teesside Magistrates’ Court the 57-year-old was said to have four still and moving images of category A, 58 in category B and 84 in category C in his possession.
Rachael Dodsworth, prosecuting, said that the offences were carried out between September 2012 and January this year.
Simpson, of Sherwood Drive, Marske, “deliberately” searched for “pre-teen” child abuse images online.
Because of the severity of the crime, chair of the bench, Keith Barker, transferred the case the crown court for sentencing.
Simpson was given unconditional bail and will appear for sentencing at Teesside Crown Court on a date that is yet to be set.
He was also made subject to notification requirements meaning he must notify the police withing the next three days about his conviction.
