Knicker thief filmed himself in sex act as he looked at children on his computer
A knicker thief who collected child porn and filmed himself committing a sexual act while looking at pictures of children has been jailed for three years.
Authorities in the USA linked the downloading of child abuse images to Clifton-based William Fletcher’s computer, Bristol Crown Court heard.
It transpired he had downloaded thousands of indecent child photos and distributed some via Skype to a like-minded paedophile overseas.
The 36-year-old, latterly of St Hilary in Cowbridge, South Glamorgan, pleaded guilty to three charges of making indecent images of children and three charges of distributing indecent images of children.
He also admitted possessing two extreme pornographic images and theft of 49 pairs of female underwear, 47 of which belonged to children.
Fletcher was told to register as a sex offender, indefinitely, and was handed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order designed to stop him re-offending.
Mark Hollier, prosecuting, said Avon and Somerset Police acted on US intelligence and arrested Fletcher in August last year.
Analysis of his computer devices revealed that, over five years, he amassed a sordid collection of child abuse stills and movies.
They included 26,272 still images of children in the least Category C level of abuse, as well as 1,612 still images in the most serious Category A level, defined as those which show children being raped.
Mr Hollier said police found Fletcher had uploaded “non-indecent” child images to a file sharing site in Russia, apparently hoping for pictures in return.
Fletcher accepted he had filmed himself committing a sex act on himself whilst looking at “non-indecent” child photos.
He admitted stealing 49 pairs of female underwear, which the prosecution believed he used for sexual purposes.
