Double rapist from Leicester is still missing 3 weeks after he went on the run
Police say efforts are continuing to find double rapist Sean Perry after he went missing from an address in Leicester city centre
Sean Perry, aged 46, was last seen on June 19.
Perry, who uses the surnames Cawthray and Goldthorpe, is in breach of his prison licence after failing to return to a probation approved address in the city centre.
A police spokesman said: “Extensive enquiries have been conducted to locate him but without success.”
The force say he should not be approached.
Perry was given a life sentence in December 2002 at Leeds Crown Court after kidnapping a schoolgirl near Leeds.
He had been in prison twice before that for rape.
Perry grabbed the 14-year-old girl by her hair at a bus stop and began pulling her down a back alley towards a brook, putting his hand over her face, a court heard.
His terrified victim was finding it hard to breathe when her desperate struggles drew the attention of a 7-year-old boy playing in a garden nearby.
The boy realised she was in danger and went for his grandfather who shouted at Perry, who was dealt with in court for that offence under the name Sean Cawthray.
Cawthray, who was then of Charles Street, Leicester, admitted kidnapping the schoolgirl.
At the time, Judge James Spencer said it would be at least five years before he could be considered for release because of the risk the sex attacker posed to young women.
After his release, he would be on licence for life, meaning that if he breached the terms of his licence he could go back to prison
He had previously been jailed for raping a 20-year-old woman while he was studying art at De Montfort University in 1993 and, several years earlier, for raping a 15-year-old girl and attempting to rape another teenager in Leeds.
Perry has a history of going on the run.
In December 2013, a hunt was launched when he was reported missing from Leyhill open prison, in Gloucestershire.
Perry is white, about 6ft and slim, with cropped dark hair and blue eyes.
When last seen he was wearing grey shorts and a grey short sleeve T-shirt emblazoned with a large ’23’ motif in white on the front.
He was also wearing black trainers and was carrying a grey and black backpack.
