Sex addict had 300 child abuse images on flash drive
A self confessed sex addict has been handed a suspended sentence after he was found with almost 300 child abuse images on a flash drive.
Robert Frost claimed he had no sexual interest in children but was researching the images because he suspected his father had been part of a paedophile ring.
He was caught with the material on a computer and flash drive when police searched his bedsit in Paignton last December, Exeter Crown Court was told.
Unemployed Frost, also known as Munro, aged 43, of Church Street, Paignton, admitted three offences of making indecent images of children and one of possessing extreme pornography.
He was jailed for eight months, suspended for two years, and ordered to sign on the sex offenders’ register by Judge Geoffrey Mercer, QC, who also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order which enables the police to monitor his internet use.
He told him:”I hope you understand how serious these offences are and how downloading material like this encourages and extends the terrible abuse of children.
“You are 43 and of good character and it is that fact alone that prevents you going to prison today. This must stoop and stop now.”
Caroline Bolt, prosecuting, said police found 298 images on a flash drive and computer including 94 at the worst level, which depicted serious abuse of children aged three to 13 by adults. A video also showed an adult having sex with an animal.
It was not possible to calculate the ages of some of the girls in the images but the settings had been created to give an impression they were young, with some having hair in bunches and others with soft toys.
She said:”The defendant was interviewed and said he had a sex addiction. He said he had no interest in children. He said he was researching the images because his father was part of a paedophile ring and he wanted to understand why he engaged in such activity.”
