Man caught with 500 indecent images of children after he asked colleague to repair laptop
A man was caught with 500 indecent images of children on his laptop when he asked a work colleague to repair it.
Peter Draper, 61, from Billingham , told the workmate that the computer was running slow, and when the man made the discovery he called the police
Draper, married for 30 years with a grown-up daughter, had downloaded them over a six year period from 2010.
Prosecutor Rachel Masters told Teesside Crown Court that there were 400,000 images on the laptop and 500 were child pornography.
There were five at the most serious Level A, 30 at Level B and 417 at Level C.
Draper told police that he saved some of the images but he said he was not sexually motivated.
Draper, of North Park, Billingham, was given a six months jail sentence suspended for two years with 35 days rehabilitation activities, and ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years after he pleaded guilty to three charges of making indecent images of children between 2010 and 2016.
The judge ordered the destruction of the laptop.
