Man looked for child sexual abuse images
A MAN searched for indecent images of children because of his addiction, a court has heard.
James Park, 47, was found guilty by a jury at Newport Crown Court to three counts of making indecent images of a child and one count of possession of extreme pornography.
Speaking for the prosecution, Ieuan Bennett said Park, of Willow Drive, Llanmartin, had on his possession 11 images of Category A, two Category B images and one Category C images.
Judge Thomas Crowther QC said: “You were convicted by a jury of possessing a very small number of images – yet it was still child pornography.
“You told the jury you had a problem with pornography, you said you had an addiction. I have no doubt this compulsive behaviour led to looking for groser and groser material. What you failed to realise is that these children were being abused.”
He imposed a two year community order with a rehabilitation activity requirement and ordered to pay £500 for prosecution costs. Park will be on the sexual offender’s register for five years.
