Dolgellau pervert jailed for abusing two girls

A PENSIONER who sexually abused two young girls was yesterday locked up.

Brian Frederick Horton, 70, of Ffordd Pencefn, Dolgellau, admitted six counts of abuse against two un-related girls, aged 11 and eight.

At Caernarfon Crown Court he also asked for 13 charges of possessing indecent images of other children to be taken into consideration.

Elen Owen, prosecuting, said the offences came to light on Christmas Eve last year when the 11-year-old girl told her parents she had been indecently assaulted by Horton between September and November last year: she said Horton was arrested and initially made no comment when interviewed by police.

Later he was re-interviewed and told officers about the eight-year-old girl.

None of the 285 indecent images of children found on the computer were of the two girls, Ms Owen added. Neither of the girls was related to Horton.

Horton was jailed for 32 months and disqualified from working with children indefinitely. He must register his address with the police for an indefinite period.

A sex offender protection order (SOPO) prohibits him from contacting the two girls he assaulted and bans him from being alone with children under 16 indoors.
